
The public is invited to join Appomattox Camp #2, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) at a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of General Thomas A. Smyth, a resident of Wilmington and the last Union General killed in the Civil War. The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at 12:00 Noon, in the Wilmington & Brandywine Cemetery, 701 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington, DE.

Join us on Sunday, May 24, 2026 for our annual Memorial Day Observance Service at Mt. Salem United Methodist Church, 2629 W 19th St, Wilmington, DE 19806. After the church service, we will lead folks to the cemetery where over 90 Civil War veterans are interred and discuss in more detail the lives of 4 or 5 of the veterans.
This year the Wilmington Memorial Day Committee will conduct a parade and event at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Delaware Avenue and N. Broom Street, Wilmington DE 19806 on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 6:00 PM, The monument (https://www.hmdb.org/m.asp? was erected in 1870 to commemorate Delaware’s Patriotic Dead who sacrificed their Lives for their country during the Rebellion of 1861 - 65. Join us in marching in Wilmington's annual Memorial Day Parade to honor the dead of all conflicts.
